Hey guys. The tournament. Vote for Barbara. Vote Oracle.

Argh. Sorry guys. I’m working massive overtime this week (plus after-work meetings for my community involvement things) and haven’t had a chance to scan and color arts. I’ll get something up this weekend in apology, and have enough drawn for regular updates next week.

That said. Query. Halloween costumes for the girls (feel free to suggest other characters too)?

Guys I just want to say, I got some incredibly good feedback on this. This was something I’ve been concerned about the reception of, and I’m glad it was talked about. Every response had very valid points and I had to think about how Batgirls!! would go forward.

A few people wanted me to keep the “year one” vibe and use pre-TKJ Barbara throughout. A few people felt it was disrespectful to Barbara and what she represents as a differently-abled woman in comics to execute Batgirls!! as pre-TKJ.

Ultimately, I’m going to take the compromise route. Batgirls!! is here to be a fun out-of-continuity thing. The fact that it’s crowd-sourced means it will be always be episodic in nature. So, I’m going to treat it as an anthology of stories (read Asatira’s commentary below the fold). Based on what works with the script for that issue, I’ll choose a version of Barbara to illustrate from here on out—and you will see Barbara at both times in her life.

Batgirls!! - 1st Chat Log

I am aware that Khaji Da(the scarab) could never communicate with Ted in canon, but for fun I’m letting Khaji Da be able to talk to both Ted and (theoretical-might-appear-later) Jaime. Khaji Da is our adorable little canon trolly bug, after all.

So. In a very genuine let’s talk about this out in the open moment… Let me point you to the ongoing discussion about what “BATGIRLS!!” should do regarding the Batgirl and Oracle Barbara versions. 

Right now, I’m liking the suggested “compromise” that since BATGIRLS!! is episodic in nature, to just flip back and forth amongst the time line and show both identities. Partially because I’d like to illustrate both versions and satisfy both audiences, and also because I really don’t want to illustrate TKJ occurring all over again.

But, Your input is much desired.
